Sacred Tree

£250.00

Original watercolour and ink painting on 425gsm watercolour paper.

Painted area 35cm x 26cm.

Framed with white painted wood frame and white mount.

This is one of my Order and Chaos series, silhouette-based paintings inspired by the wildlife and nature I see on my walks around Oxford.

Here, egrets, swans, crows and a cruciform goldfinch guard a floating sacred tree.

In part it's a tribute to the beauty found in the natural world around us, and it's healing effect on us. In part it's a reflection of the order and chaos that is nature. The repeating patterns, perfect overlay of feathers, and symmetry of the natural world are countered by unpredictability, and a tendency towards chaos.

Beauty, healing, order and chaos. The remarkable magic of the natural world.
