About my art

My work is about my longing for a time when there was more magic in the world.

Real or not, it was a time when gods and goddesses roamed the earth, when we were deeply connected to the natural world, when animals, trees and rocks were also spirits, and when myth, folklore and the everyday inhabited the same space.

My paintings inhabit this mythical time of stories and wonder, and also reflect my search for moments of beauty in everyday existence.

About me

I’m a figurative artist based in Oxford, UK, where I work from my garden studio, painting in oils.

I’ve been drawing and painting from an early age, encouraged by my artist grandmother, who taught me to sketch and bought me my first paints.

I am largely self-taught, but bring influences from my long-held fascination with icon paintings, Renaissance art and history, my psychology degree, and my short time at the Académie des Beaux Artes in Grasse, France.

For most of my adult life I worked in marketing, until a serious illness reminded me that life is short, and caused me to re-evaluate my priorities. As a result I left my desk job and returned to painting in 2021.

Since then, I’ve exhibited a number of times in the UK, including in Oxford, Brighton and London, and my paintings have found homes in the UK, Europe and America.
