Amphitrite wife of Poseidon. She was one of the 50 Nereids, the sea nymph daughters of sea gods Nereus and Doris, granddaughter of the Titan god Oceanus.
Amphitrite’s offspring included dolphins, seals and a merman. She also bred sea monsters, and produced great waves that would crash on the rocks and put sailors at risk.
