Copper and Verdigris (Cormorant)
Original oil painting on gesso board.
45 × 30cm
I love the sculptural, prehistoric-looking cormorant. Their long lines, their inky feathers revealing flashes of green and copper, the vibrant yellow around their beaks and astonishingly emerald eyes. I feel there’s something of the dinosaur in them, and something mythical too - perhaps a bit of phoenix and dragon too. Or maybe that’s just my wishful thinking.
